Adventures of Riverlea Farm Book One

Welcome to the Adventures of Riverlea Farm in South Africa!

These adventures are bright and cheery written about real life. Along with the primary illustrations, the books are full of charming artwork and are designed to keep children engaged as they learn. The illustrations are digital adaptations from actual photographs taken of the main character, Jon-the-Vet, his farm at Riverlea and his pets. Each of the books finishes with a small activity to keep minds active and growing, along with an educational page of "Did You Know?"

In this first book of the series, Jon-the-Vet has had enough of the rain in England and returns to South Africa. He gets called to see a sick horse and ends up finding the farm of his dreams. He also meets his first pet of many, a cat named Diesel. Book one finishes with a guide to flower and leaf pressing, along with some geographical information about South Africa.

Through rhyme and humor, and occasional life lessons, children will enjoy the adventures to be found on a farm in South Africa. The series has been written by Penelope Alison, a speech language pathologist, for the language enrichment of children ages two to seven. The series can also serve as a reader for children in grades two to three looking to expand their reading skills.
