Jon-the-Vet was living in the UK. Sweet-Pen was living on the coast of Southern California.  The fast-paced lifestyles of rat and race afforded both a jet-setting and financial-free existence.  Yet, each longed for the wild and unpredictable passion found in their shared country of birth, South Africa.

The call of Africa can be heard in the hearts of many around the world.  Throwing caution to the wind, both took giant leaps of faith in search of a life less traveled.  Jon returned to South Africa in 2002 and Pen in 2006.  These childhood friends reconnected in the rolling green hills of the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal and were married in 2012.  The Adventures of Riverlea Farm had begun!
